Ghostwriting at a Glance

Greetings. My name is Salvatore Folisi. I’m the owner of Xander Stone Ink, a one-man show I set up so I could do what I love while helping other people. We all have a story to tell, and our stories are all unique. For many people it's hard to put pen to paper and have your story flow right out onto the page. I can help.

As a ghostwriter I begin by having a creative dialogue with you about your writing project. Then we determine the best way to move forward. I work with your story or book at any stage of development—whether it's just an idea in your head or a half-written manuscript that needs to be completed.

I provide full-scale ghostwriting, idea consultation, editing, copyediting, and proofreading—my services specially tailored to provide you with exactly what you need. No more and no less.

What are the main ingredients I bring to the table?

Imagination. Enthusiasm. Skill.

Imagination involves tapping into the realm of possibility and bringing hidden treasures out from the darkness and into the light.

Enthusiasm is the energy and life-force that carries the inertia of any creative project off the ground and into flight.

Skill shapes imagination and channels enthusiasm towards fruition. The result is a finely honed, diligently crafted product that will powerfully impact and compel your audience.

I enjoy and have experience working with both fiction and non-fiction genres: novel, memoir, business treatise, short story, screenplay, poetry, and textbook

Writing a book isn't easy. But it can be the adventure of a lifetime.

Let me help you tell your story to the world!

The Beauty of Writing

I’ve always relished writing as a process of self-expression that sparks discovery of the self and the world. Through writing and reading we perpetually discover who we are, exploring new regions of ourselves as individuals, in relationship with other beings, and as a humanity. When writing, we seek to create that which is possible or to convey an experience that is not only meaningful but also wonderous. Or momentous. Or devastating.

What we seek beyond all else is to share something profound about our lives—our fragile, exhilarating, bewildering, and magnificent experience as human beings.

Writing enables each of us to express our own unique voice, our particular perspective, our exclusive experience. Writing, like speaking, is a direct affirmation of our existence as individuals who constantly seek to survive and thrive in participation with a highly complex environment. Words help us navigate and connect with the world around us, and help us make sense of the world within us.

Words are a special gift we have as humans that enable us to investigate, describe, reflect, and understand our experiences. Our human language gives us the rare opportunity, amongst all living creatures on the planet, to articulate and share our thoughts and feelings at great length and specificity.

Language enables us to tell our own stories in ways that truly make us human.

As a ghostwriter, I view my role as helping you do just that.

The Nitty Gritty

Ghostwriting sounds like a mysterious or clandestine process, but it is really quite simple. A ghostwriter is a writer who assists an aspiring author to write their book. While the ghostwriter does the majority of the writing, the aspiring author maintains the credit and rights to their story. A ghostwriter helps you to write your story, but the story belongs to you, the author, because the story is yours.

As a ghostwriter I help you say what you want to say, albeit in written form. I turn your ideas and vision into a coherent message that takes the form of a book. The degree to which I take over the reins is really up to you. Some authors are very exacting in what they want me to write and how they want me to write it, others sketch out a basic structure and image of the project and ask me to take over. It’s all really up to you. You’re the boss.

The first step in the ghostwriting process is having an initial consultation in which you describe your book idea. We typically talk by phone, although I do meet with people in-person on occasion. If you have notes or rough drafts of your ideas, this is a great time to share those too. During our initial consultation I’ll share a bit about myself and how I work. If your project is one I think I can help with and you think I’m the right person for the job, then we get down to brass tacks.

Most ghostwriting projects officially begin with some kind of a contract, typically a Letter of Agreement (LOA), that lays out the services to be provided, deliverables, timeline, fees and payment terms. We also develop a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) at the onset that sets down the terms of confidentiality and intellectual property rights. Most importantly, an NDA represents a legal contract that prohibits me (the ghostwriter) from sharing your book ideas with other entities or using your book for my own gain.

Once all the paperwork is complete, we get to work with the writing. Often times, I work with clients on a trial basis, without a LOA, so they can get a sense of how I write and if the deliverables are in line with what they envision. This is an option many clients choose so they can ease into the process, which is a great way to go.

Either way, once we get rolling I deliver portions of writing to you on our agreed upon schedule and we talk about the results. I adapt my approach to the ghostwriting process according to your feedback, what works and what doesn’t. We work in collaboration like this until the project is complete.

Then you go away and become famous!
